RE: ENFORCEMENT OF PATERNAS VICES- A DECREE DECLARING THAT THE NAME OF SAINT JOSEPH, THE HUSBAND OF MARY BE ADDED TO THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYERS II, III, AND IV OF THE ROMAN MISSAL IN EVERY EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION IN THE DIOCESE OF BAGUIO.
To beloved Parish Priests, Parochial Vicars, and Guest Priests in the Diocese of Baguio:
Pax Christi!
For your kind attention and action.
On 01 May, 2013, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments issued PATERNAS VICES, a decree declaring that the name of Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, be added to the Eucharistic Prayers II, III and IV, as they appear in the third typical edition of the Roman Missal, after the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The said decree was embargo until 19 June 2013, Wednesday, 12 o’clock noon, Rome time, and took effect thereon.
The decree is herein reproduced in verbatim.
DECREE
Exercising his parental care over Jesus, Saint Joseph of Nazareth set over the Lord’s family, marvellously fulfilled the office he received by grace. Adhering firmly to the mystery of God’s design of salvation in its very beginnings, he stands as an exemplary model of the kindness and humility that the Christian faith raises to a great destiny, and demonstrates the ordinary and simple virtues necessary for men to be good and genuine followers of Christ. Through these virtues, this Just man, caring most lovingly for the Mother of God and happily dedicating himself to the upbringing of Jesus Christ, was placed as guardian over God the Father’s most precious treasures. Therefore he has been the subject of assiduous devotion on the part of the People of God throughout the centuries, as the support of that mystical body, which is the Church.
The faithful in the Catholic Church have shown continuous devotion to Saint Joseph and have solemnly and constantly honoured his
memory as the most chaste spouse of the Mother of God and as the heavenly patron of the universal Church. For this reason Blessed Pope John XXIII, in the days of the Most Holy Second Ecumenical Council of the Vatican, decreed that Saint Joseph’s name be added to the ancient Roman Canon. In response to petitions received from places throughout the world, the Supreme Pontiff Benedict XVI deemed them worthy of implementation and graciously approved them. The Supreme Pontiff FRANCIS likewise has recently confirmed them. In this the Pontiffs had before their eyes the full communion of the saints who, once pilgrims in this world, now leads us to Christ and unite us with him.
Accordingly, mature consideration having been given to all matters mentioned here above, this Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, by virtue of the faculties granted by the Supreme Pontiff FRANCIS, is pleased to decree that the name of Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary is henceforth to be added to Eucharistic Prayers II, III and IV, as they appear in the third typical edition of the Roman Missal, after the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as follows: in Eucharistic Prayer II: “ut cum beata Dei Genetrice Virgene Maria, beato Ioseph, eius Sponso, beatis Apostolis”; in Eucharistic Prayer III: “cum beatissima Virgine, Die Genetrice, Maria, cum beato Ioseph, eius Sponso, cum beatis Apostolis”; and in Eucharistic Prayer IV: “cum beata Virgene, Dei Genetrice, Maria beato Ioseph, eius Sponso, cum Apostolis.” [Emphasis supplied]
As regards the Latin text, these formulas are hereby declared typical. The Congregation itself will soon provide vernacular translations in the more widespread western languages; as for other languages, translations are to be prepared by the Bishop’s Conferences, according to the norm of law, to be confirmed by the Holy See through this Dicastery.
All things to the contrary notwithstanding.
From the offices of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, 01 May 2013, on the Memorial of Saint Joseph the Worker.

Praefectus
Ergo, per the guidelines provided by the Congregation on Divine Worship and after adding the name of Saint Joseph, the various Eucharistic Prayers read:
In Eucharistic Prayer II:
…that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
With blessed Joseph, her Spouse,
With the blessed Apostles…
In Eucharistic Prayer III:
…with the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
With blessed Joseph, her Spouse,
With your blessed Apostles and glorious Martyrs…
In Eucharistic Prayer IV:
…with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
With blessed Joseph, her Spouse,
And with your Apostles…
It is incumbent upon you to abide with the mandate of the above quoted Decree in your celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
May the good Lord bless us and our endeavours that they may bear fruit now and in eternal life. Amen.

Biography of Mother Mary Michael
Whne Mother Mary Michael lit the first sanctuary lamp in the first humble of the Congregation which she co-founded with Saint Arnold Janssen, SVD on December 8, 1896, she never dreamed that one day other lamps would be burning in chaples of her congregation in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa. More than one hundred years have passed and her legacy continues to live on. Her gift to the Church and to humanity was a congregation of perpetual adoration, sister-adoerers who pray around the clock all over the world.
Mother Mary Michael was born on 7 January 1862 in Horst-Emscher in Westphalia, Germany. She was the third of the eleven children of John and Matilda Tonnies. Educated as a teacher, she taught in a little mission school in Rendsburg, Scheswig-Holstein. When she joined St. Arnold’s mission work, she eventually became a guide and leader of the contemplative-missionary branch for the next 38 years. The Philippines was the last of the Convents she established before her passing on 25 February 1934.
Mother Mary Michael’s guiding star was God’s will, thus she exuded a peace that captivated all whose lives she touched. The sick and the suffering had a special place in her prayerful heart. She regarded sickness as a blessing and an occasion for merit, a golden opportunity to gather rich spiritual treasures for the glory of God and the salvation of souls. May the prayers and holy life of Mother Mary Michael help us find peace, joy and courage where she found them- in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
Novena for the Sick through the Intercession of Mother Mary Michael
God our Father, Lord and guide of our destiny, how faithfully you watch over the well-being of your children. You filled your servant, Mother Mary Michael, with firm, childlike confidence in your wise, loving and all-powerful guidance. In all things she recognized your guiding hand; you strongly recognized your guiding hand; you strongly drew her interiorly to adoration and to the service of the Eucharist. Enlighten us that by faith, we, too, may contemplate your power and greatness and deign to accept our insignificant and unworthy service for your honor and the salvation of souls.
A Prayer in Special Need
Lord God, for your greater glory and through the intercession of your faithful servant, Mother Mary Michael [here mention your petition] assist us in our needs and grant our petitions according to your good pleasure, and as is best for our temporal and eternal welfare, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory be…

RE: LITURGICAL SONGS BASED ON THE NEW ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE ROMAN MISSAL AND “CELEBRATE.”
To our beloved Parish Priests, and Parochial Vicars, Superiors of Religious Communities, Heads People of God in the Diocese of Baguio:
Pax Christi!
By way of introduction:
A new set of guidelines for the translation of liturgical books which requires a word-for-word translation that is closer to the original Latin in context and syntax was issued by the Holy See in 2001. Thus, the 3rd typical edition of the Roman Missal was promulgated by the Holy See in 2002. In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI approved the new English translation produced by the International Committee on English in the Liturgy (ICEL) and the Holy See’s Vox Clara Commission. This New translation replaces the second edition in use since 1975. As a consequence most of the responses and liturgical songs in the Eucharistic celebration were totally revised.
These changes sparked the desire of Atty. Erik Donn Ignacio to compose liturgical songs based on these changes.
“Celebrate” is compilation of liturgical songs which was personally written, composed and sung by Atty. Erik.
Endorsement:
The lyrics of the songs which were personally reviewed by me are in congruence with the form and substance of the New English Translation of the Roman Missal.
It is by this spirit and through my office that I highly recommend the use of these songs in our liturgical celebrations. In connection with this, there will be a free admission demo concert of the songs on March 15, 2013 at Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral, Baguio City at 7:00 pm. May we invite then your parish representatives.
